Zinc
Zinc Test Kits for Cooling Water Towers
Zinc is widely used as a cathodic corrosion inhibitor.
As a corrosion inhibitor in cooling water applications, zinc acts by producing a oxygen impermeable film of zinc hydroxide at the cathode, thus stifling corrosion reaction. Typical low level residual being between 1 and 10 mg/l.
Zinc is also used in the electrolytic galvanising of metal surfaces for corrosion protection. Effluent discharge consent on galvanising plant is strickly monitored for a range on metails, including zinc.
The Kittiwake Zinc Test Kits for Cooling Water Towers provide a means of measuring both cooling water concentrations and effluent discharge levels.
Colorimetic methods for measuring up to 4mg/l are available using colour card, checkit, comparator andphotometer . Drop Tests and titration tests have extended ranges, up to 10mg/l.
The table below gives a chart of recommended tests.
