THPS is a very effective broad spectrum non-oxidising biocide with a relatively benign toxicity.

Choosing THPS enables effective microbiological control of water systems with a product that readily hydrolyses/degrades in the environment to near harmless by-products. THPS applications include microbiological control of recirculating cooling water and process water, odour and whitewater control in the pulp and paper industry and oilfield control of sulphate reducing bacteria and dissolving iron sulphide.

The Kittiwake THPS test kit enables quantitative testing on-site to ensure that minimum dose levels are maintained for effective water treatment and control. The test is based on an iodometric titration of THPS, using starch as the indicator. A masking agent is supplied to remove any potential interference from other biocides that may be present.
