Manganese
Manganese occurs naturally in groundwaters and is generally removed from both potable and industrial waters due to the it's ability to impare both colour and taste.
Even very low levels of manganese can stain clothing, painted surfaces and discolour swimming pool waters . It is therefore essential, in many applications, to monitor water quality for the presence of manganese, or to assess the effectiveness of manganese removal equipment.
The Kittiwake Photometer method for manganese allows for rapid field evaluation of water supplies to prevent problems arising from manganese contamination.
